COVER REVEAL: Ghosts of Mars
One of the days you dream about as an author, who aspires to be published, is the day of your cover reveal.
A single image that encapsulates 200-300 pages worth of story - that will capture the eye of a young reader in a bookshop, or a parent on the digital bookstores.
They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but I couldn't disagree more. I judge almost every book I've ever read by it's cover. In the first 10 seconds.
Once I choose to pick up and open a book, I am THEN judging it by the content and the story, but before then, what else do I have to judge it by?
So how do I feel seeing my cover now?
It means everything. It would be easy to underplay the significance of seeing your book cover for the first time - to play it cool and not really ramp up its importance. But I am doing the opposite (I've always been a bit rebellious).
I adore the artwork of the brilliant Jen Jamieson, who you should absolutely hire for your own book cover and illustration needs. She's very easy to work with, very communicable, and most importantly, has talent for sols!
